Processing Centre's Capacity/Capability

Arcis has the resources, expertise, and state-of-the-art technology to process today's large, structurally complex data volumes.

One of the strengths of a processing center is its' hardware. Arcis is continually working to improve the capacity of our hardware system to meet the growing needs of our clients. We have designed a cluster computing environment around SUN Microsystems 1U nodes, to meet those needs.

The system is powered by the 64 bit AMD Opteron ™ dual-core processor.  All processing is done disk to disk via fibre networks using cluster disk systems and back up is via SDLT robotic tape library or cluster disk storage systems.

Sun Microsystems recently showcased Arcis within a prominent news release.

Excerpt from news release:

Recent customers worldwide that have signed with Sun include:

Arcis Corporation

Arcis Corporation, a provider of seismic solutions for Canada's energy industry, chose a combination of Sun Microsystems servers and software to address its needs for faster and more effective compute-intensive systems for processing large, structurally complex seismic data volumes. Arcis provides a wide spectrum of 2D and 3D seismic data processing services for domestic and international markets that help customers minimize the risks associated with drilling while reducing exploration and development costs. In February, Arcis implemented a new system consisting of multiple 32 node, Dual-Core AMD Opteron(TM) processor-powered Sun Fire servers running the Solaris 10 OS to make good on its commitment to continually invest in research and development, and state-of-the-art technology.
